Khun Wanchai Chantharosi
Son of resident · Bangkok
My mother moved to doksuilis about eight months ago, after two difficult years trying to manage her situation from Bangkok. She had been resistant to the idea of leaving her home, but within a few weeks of arriving she seemed genuinely settled. She talks about the kitchen staff by name, which is something she never did in the facility she was in before.

Daughter-in-law of resident · Chiang Mai
We visited three places before deciding on doksuilis. The others had nicer brochures, but this was the only one where my father-in-law's face actually relaxed when he walked around. The garden was what did it for him. He has always been someone who needed to be outside, and here he is. I will say that communication can sometimes take a day or two by email — calling is faster if you need an answer soon.

Nephew of resident · Chiang Rai
My aunt has been at doksuilis for nearly two years now in a shared room. When I visit — which is most weekends since I live in Chiang Rai — she always seems well. Her appetite has improved considerably since she arrived, and she has a friendship with her roommate that I think surprised her. The price is fair for what you receive.

Daughter of resident · Budapest / Chiang Rai
My father retired to Chiang Rai years ago and loved the north. When he needed more daily support, finding somewhere that felt like northern Thailand rather than a generic care home was important to us. doksuilis does that completely. When I fly in for a month, I can stay in the guest area with him. That means more than I expected it to.

Grandmother has been at doksuilis for about six months. She was hesitant about the move and we were worried she would be unhappy. Khun Niran who does the activities — she has become fond of him. She joins the craft afternoons now, which none of us expected. The food is something she mentions every time we call, always positively.

Son of resident · Singapore
We did a lot of research from Singapore before choosing doksuilis. What I found reassuring was that they were very clear about what they do not provide — they are not a medical facility and they say so plainly. That honesty was actually what convinced me. My mother is there on the Full Residence Package and the monthly cost is straightforward with nothing added unexpectedly.

Three stories, in more detail
A family from Bangkok, 2023
The situation
An 82-year-old woman living alone in a Bangkok apartment, with a son working overseas and a daughter managing the situation from a distance. Meals were inconsistent, and the isolation had visibly affected her.
What doksuilis offered
A shared room option that kept the cost within range, access to the garden she asked about during her visit, and a household where she would know people's names within a week. Her daughter could call Khun Malee directly with any concern.
After six months
Her family reported a noticeable improvement in her appetite, mood, and engagement with daily life. She has since moved to a private room. The son visits for a week each time he flies in from abroad.
"She called me to say she had been outside watching the fish. She has not mentioned the fish pond since — but she does not complain either, which is something."
A retired expat, 2024
The situation
A 76-year-old European man who had lived in Chiang Rai for fifteen years, widowed, and finding the demands of independent living increasing. His daughter was in Europe and concerned about his nutrition and daily safety.
What doksuilis offered
The Full Residence Package, chosen because it included daily personal assistance and the guest area — which meant his daughter could come and stay within the property on her visits rather than commuting from a hotel.
After one year
He describes his life at doksuilis as similar to his years in Chiang Rai generally — a comfortable rhythm, the garden, occasional outings — with the difference that meals are handled and he is not alone in the evenings.
"I told them at the beginning that I didn't want to be managed. They seemed to understand immediately, and they have kept to it."
Two sisters, shared room, 2024
The situation
Two sisters, aged 78 and 81, from a family in Chiang Rai who wanted to stay together and find somewhere that kept them comfortable without separating them or placing them in a facility where they felt out of place.
What doksuilis offered
The shared room option — which they now occupy together, an arrangement that suited both of them and the family entirely. The northern Thai environment meant neither of them felt they had left their world behind.
After eight months
The family describes the arrangement as one they wish they had made earlier. Both sisters are eating well and the younger one has taken to the northern craft afternoons with considerable interest. Their children visit regularly and find the house easy to be in.
"They are together, they are fed well, and they are in the north where they belong. That is honestly all we wanted."
Come and form your own impression
Every family's situation is different. A short visit — a walk through the garden, a cup of tea — will tell you more honestly whether doksuilis is right than anything here could.
